Colombo Sri Lanka
Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, is a melting pot of cultures, religions and traditions. Located on the west coast of the island, this bustling city has a rich history that dates back to the 16th century, making it one of the oldest port cities in the world. Today, Colombo is a popular travel destination that offers a unique blend of modern and traditional experiences to visitors.
One of the most iconic landmarks in Colombo is Galle Face Green, a long stretch of green grass facing the Indian Ocean. This is the perfect spot to relax, picnic and enjoy the sea breeze, especially in the evenings when it is lit up with colorful lights. Another must-visit attraction is the Pettah Market, a bustling bazaar that sells everything from textiles and spices to electronics and souvenirs. It's a great place to experience the local culture, haggle for goods, and taste some of the delicious street food on offer.
For those interested in history and architecture, Colombo has a number of colonial-era buildings, including the Old Dutch Hospital, the Dutch Museum and the National Museum of Colombo, which is home to an impressive collection of ancient artifacts, including Buddhist sculptures and coins from the country's former kingdoms. The Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Hindu Temple, also known as the Colombo Ganesh Temple, is another architectural wonder and an important place of worship for Sri Lanka's Hindu community.
Aside from its rich history and cultural offerings, Colombo is also known for its beaches. Mount Lavinia, located just a few kilometers away from the city center, is a popular beach destination, with golden sand and clear blue waters. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, or indulge in water sports such as surfing, windsurfing, and kite-surfing.
For those seeking a more spiritual experience, Colombo has several temples and religious sites to visit. The Gangaramaya Temple, one of the city's most famous Buddhist temples, is a stunning piece of architecture, with its intricate carvings, sculptures and paintings. Another popular religious site is the Kelaniya Temple, which is believed to have been visited by Lord Buddha himself.
In conclusion, Colombo offers a fascinating mix of history, culture, architecture, and natural beauty, making it an ideal travel destination for those seeking a unique and memorable experience. Whether you're interested in exploring the city's rich cultural heritage, relaxing on its pristine beaches, or discovering its modern amenities, Colombo is sure to leave you with lasting memories.

The Anuradhapura Ruins are full of crumbling temples, old brick towers and ancient pools which make it an archaeological and architectural wonder. The ruins are not completely dead as some of the temples are still considered holy and have devotees who keep them alive. For a more intimate experience, the resort may feature specialty dining options, allowing guests to explore themed culinary delights in unique settings. The resort's commitment to excellence extends to its attentive service, ensuring that every meal is a delightful celebration of the diverse and exquisite flavors that Sri Lanka has to offer. Whether you're a connoisseur of local delicacies or prefer international fare, the dining options at Habarana Village by Cinnamon promise a culinary journey that complements the enchanting surroundings of the cultural triangle.
After an exciting day of excursion to the cultural triangle, or adventures along wildlife trails, we invite you to sit by our poolside lounge area to savour some finger food while sipping on your evening coffee.
Nature itself will make sure to keep you occupied with its entertainment while you are fulfilling your evening appetite. May it be a bunch of friendly monkeys around the pool, or bird’s humming their evening song along with a stunning backdrop of the sky painted with the beautiful colors of the sunset.
We can guarantee that your experience at our lounge area will surely leave you astonished and craving for more.
Unwind after your long day trips to the cultural triangle. Ask our bartender to make you a refreshing drink, and he'll shake up a fun cocktail while the birdsongs all around entertain you.
Nibble on our bar snacks while mindlessly sipping your way through a conversation with a friend, while nature keeps adding an endearing background score. A playful squirrel's jumping around might be the only thing off the tranquil meter. But that'd be a sweet, welcome distraction if anything.
If nature, food and company have left you wanting for more, you could continue sitting there taking in the atmosphere around you.
When you walk into our rustic abode, you'll see a semi-open restaurant to your right. That's our main restaurant, El Hena, serving the most delectable international buffets, using local ingredients.
While our international spreads are prepared under the supervision of experienced head chefs, our local traditional cuisine is prepared by a cook from the neighbouring village. So, wake up and come by, take a round of the buffet laid out, while the soothing music played by the flautist acts as a prelude to the deeply satisfying spread. Sit by the pool and enjoy the perfect harmony of food, ambience and music. When it's time for dinner, this space grows a soft, warm and romantic vibe floating around the pool as we dim the lights, and a live band performs some classic tunes.
A cool breeze, rustling leaves and chirping birds will always give you company at El Hena, no matter what time of the day it is.
We’re always making the most of what we have, to make your stay with us truly memorable. And so, in our green space, closer to the lake we’ve built tree houses for you to sit by and have a romantic barbeque. With just enough lanterns around and a quiet lake right there, it makes for a beautiful setting.
Celebrate being in love with a Champagne breakfast on a tree house, by the lake or your private verandah. Whether it’s an anniversary, a birthday or just another day, raise a toast to togetherness forever!
There's an elevated sense of calmness that comes with being around the slightly rippling water. Experience it, as we arrange a dim-lit, private dining affair for you by the lake. While the sumptuous food satiates your tastebuds, the warm, dreamy setting will fill your heart up.
Isn’t life essentially about creating beautiful memories with the ones you love? We truly believe so, and that’s why we’ve designed a family barbeque affair, which can be arranged in our extensive open garden area, close to the lake. Ask us to prepare for one, and we’ll make sure your evening turns out to be as merry as possible.
Experience the largest Asian elephant gathering in the world from July to October, on a safari at Minneriya National Park.
Ever come so close to an animal, that you felt its warm and intimidating vibe at the same time? Well, here’s your chance. Take a jeep safari to the Minneriya and Kaudulla National Park, and the echoes of trumpets will reach you before you find a herd of elephants crossing the dusty road, while carefully sheltering the calf of the family.
The ecosystem around us at Habarana Village by Cinnamon was carefully designed to invite nature in all forms. Thankfully, nature responded in a chirpy, colourful pattern. 48 species of birds and 50 different kinds of butterflies flock around in our abode seasonally.
Visit the renowned Dambulla cave temple, the sacred pilgrimage site which is the largest best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka.
What was once part of a fortress, centuries ago, today stands tall as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sigiriya Rock still exudes the same might and power it once held, the heights of which can be felt only after climbing up right to the top. And once you're there, the breathtaking views of the lush green lands sweep you off your feet.
Five decades ago, a British naval officer’s love for trees resulted in an arboretum in our island country. Built across seven acres at that time, it spread to over 34 acres after he gifted it to IFS (Institute of Fundamental Studies). Today, Sam Popham’s Arboretum is home to several species of birds, butterflies, dragonflies and mammals, including the rare, nocturnal Slender Loris, which is native to Sri Lanka and India.
Our expansive green haven houses the perfect atmosphere for a freewheeling state of mind. Cycle around the pathways that open up to the afforested land, abuzz with nature’s endearing sounds, and capture the lovely sights strewn all along.
Take a bicycle tour around Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and go back to an era of beautiful art and architecture. Start from the Archaeological Museum, that houses a marvellous collection of bronze statues, some ancient medical instruments, and a topographical model of the city, as it presumably looked like in the past.
Make a trip to our neighbouring village and witness a life of simpler comforts, and sweeter joys. Drive to an unpaved gravel path that leads to the red soils of the tank bund which ends at a reservoir. By the time you soak in the rustic setting, you might get invited by a villager for a jaggery-sweetened cup of tea in their home.
Amidst the clusters of Habarana Village is the spacious Gam Saba conference hall. Armed with all the necessary equipment, this is the ideal space for meeting and presentations with a special touch. And once business concludes, you’re well placed to explore the wonders of Sri Lanka.
Make the serenity of nature an inspired backdrop for your special day. Exchange vows in a shady grove amidst our expansive garden by the lake. This stunning venue offers international levels of service, a host of customizable options and of course, an incredible experience.
Soothe every tired muscle you might feel after a day of climbing, walking and travelling around, at our award-winning spa, Azmaara. Enter the two-storeyed building dedicated to the spa, and you’ll loosen up while walking in as you absorb the relaxed vibe.
As we welcome you with a Balinese jaggery-based drink, browse through their menu of treatments. Pick from one that feels right for you - Balinese massages, body scrubs and wraps, manicures and pedicures or facials. Our Balinese therapists are trained in both Balinese and Swedish healing techniques that they perform at your leisure.
The spa also features a sauna and a steam room. So, while you might walk in feeling worn out, you’ll definitely leave feeling rejuvenated.

Habarana Sri Lanka
A holiday to Habarana in itself is of little interest to most tourists. It has a decent spread of relatively upmarket accommodation, making it a convenient base from which to visit any of the Cultural Triangle’s major sights. For some of the best elephant spotting in Sri Lanka, Habarana is also a convenient point of departure for trips to the Minneriya and Kaudulla national parks.
Overview
For some of the best elephant spotting in Sri Lanka, Habarana is also a convenient point of departure for trips to the Minneriya and Kaudulla national parks. The only really interesting attraction in Habarana is the fine Habarana Lake which is encircled by a small footpath around which it’s possible to walk in 90min or so. You can also take an elephant ride by the lake and elsewhere.

Destination: Punch-You-In-The-Face Spicy Cuisine
If you’re looking for an adventure that exhilarates your palate as well as your eyes, holidays in Sri Lanka are the way to go. Sri Lankan cuisine is known for being heavily endowed with aromatic, exotic spices. Once a stop on the spice-trading route, Sri Lanka holds true to its roots, making your holiday an experience for your taste buds. The main ingredients you’ll find while eating on your Sri Lankan holiday are rice, curry and coconut. You will never taste better or fresher coconut than what is on offer while on holiday in Sri Lanka. Be sure to also try some of the short eats which are snacks that can be purchased from street vendors. The island has been heavily influenced by the colonial powers that once ruled its shores. The countryside was previously covered in heavy jungle until the British cleared it away to plant tea crops. If you want to learn more about the history of tea on the island and how it’s produced, be sure to visit the Ceylon Tea Museum or take a tour at the Dambatenne Tea Factory and then enjoy a cup of locally produced tea. Your Sri Lanka holiday won’t be complete without a tour to the all-female run Euphoria Spice and Herbal farm.
Destination: Sun, Sand and Surf
Sri Lanka holidays provide the perfect opportunity to relax and find a little serenity on one of the many beaches along the wide range of coastline offered by the small island state. One of the benefits of the climate in Sri Lanka is that there’s always sun somewhere on the island. You can find the perfect beach during your Sri Lankan holiday regardless of whether you’re looking to relax, to surf massive waves or to enjoy a drink, some dancing and music. Some of the famed Sri Lankan beaches are Arugum Bay, Mirissa beach, Hikkaduwa beach and Nilaveli beach. You might also want to visit the Galle Face Green, which is a long stretch of lawn that faces the ocean and was once used by the Dutch so that they could shoot their cannons with a clear view of the enemy. Whether your holiday to Sri Lanka is for a romantic getaway, a honeymoon, an adventure for exploring a new place or a beachside escape to catch some waves, you rest assured that you will not be disappointed. Sri Lanka offers a range of accommodation, from the humblest hostel to resort-style hotels with all the amenities included.

Habarana/Sigiriya/Polonnaruwa/Habarana
After breakfast take an excursion to Sigiriya – this UNESCO World Heritage Site, a spectacular Rock Fortress, is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. Built by King Kashyapa (477-495 A.D), the “Lion Rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200m from the scrub jungle. Afterwards visit a Batik workshop and watch the complicated and time consuming home industry of handmade batik.
Then in the afternoon there is a choice of two optional excursions:-
Polonnaruwa Ancient City (US$35pp)– this medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rose to fame as the capital (10th - 12th century AD) after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbour. The monuments are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past. Highlights are the Royal Palace complex including the Kings Palace and Audience Hall, the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient heritage and the spectacular Gal Vihare complex of four massive images of the Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite - a highlight of ancient Sri Lankan rock carving. Some of the best examples of the Hindu influence – the Temples of Shiva, intricate statues of Hindu Gods, fascinating Budhist temples, the Lankatileka and Watadage, the Galpotha, the Lotus bath, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth are other impressive sights.
Hiriwadunna Village Tour (US$ 20.00 Per Person. Minimum 2 pax)
- enjoy a tranquil evening walk, catamaran ride and a tour through the village of Hiriwadunna. Experience the calmness of a tropical village as you enjoy a cup of tea. This is a super jungle and village experience which is popular with most clients. Embark on a scintillating walk over village paths, a tank (ancient reservoir) bund and forest. Cross a little jungle rivulet by catamaran to reach a farmers simple "wattle and daub" house where you can have an authentic Sri Lankan lunch. The villager will provide some tea and maybe a few sweetmeats. Walk approximately half an hour by foot to a point where your vehicle meets you

At Habarana Village by Cinnamon, dining is not just a culinary experience but a journey into the vibrant flavors of Sri Lanka. The resort offers a diverse range of dining options, each infused with local spices and international influences.
Indulge in authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at the main restaurant, where expert chefs curate a menu showcasing the country's rich culinary heritage. Guests can savor delectable dishes prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients in a warm and inviting ambiance.
For a more intimate experience, the resort may feature specialty dining options, allowing guests to explore themed culinary delights in unique settings. Whether it's a romantic dinner under the stars or a casual lunch by the pool, the dining experiences at Habarana Village are designed to tantalize the taste buds and create lasting memories.

Destination: Leopards, Elephants and whales, oh my!
Holidays to Sri Lanka are filled with adventures through the diverse range of habitats available on the island. Explore the open plains of Uda Walawe National Park to view wandering elephants and the occasional sneaking leopard. Sri Lankan holidays offer endless opportunities to watch schools of brightly coloured fish swimming through the clear blue waters, nesting turtles, rock pigeons, dozens of species of vibrantly coloured birds, breaching whales and even elephants. While on holiday in Sri Lanka, be sure to visit the Sinharaja Forest Reserve to see the last spread of undisturbed forest in the country. There are 22 villages located on the outskirts of the trees and there’s a wide range of flora and fauna to explore in the greenery of the Sri Lankan forest. While exploring the countryside, you may even run into a scenic waterfall.
Destination: Explorations of the Ancient
Sri Lanka is also a great place to explore the extended history of religion and culture. Your holidays to Sri Lanka can include tours to any of the eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, explorations of religious ruins and temples, or to see the colonial architecture of the buildings left from the rule of the Dutch and the British. The Anuradhapura Ruins are full of crumbling temples, old brick towers and ancient pools which make it an archaeological and architectural wonder. The ruins are not completely dead as some of the temples are still considered holy and have devotees who keep them alive. If you’re interested in seeing some colonial architecture on your Sri Lankan holidays, be sure to visit the Old City Hall which was built by the British in 1865 and is now outfitted with ghoulishly lit wax figurines of the original councillors of 1906.
Destination: Sunshine and Clear Skies
The best time of year to visit for holidays in Sri Lanka if you want to see the entire country is April and September. These two months offer the best weather throughout the entire country. Throughout Sri Lanka you can expect humidity to be above 50 per cent year-round, reaching 90 per cent during the monsoon seasons. Peak season in Sri Lanka is considered to be from December to mid-April when the weather will average 30 degrees. This is the best time of the year to discover the beaches of Sri Lanka. Keep in mind that travel expenses and room rates will be highest at this peak time of year. If you’re holiday takes you to Sri Lanka in March or April, be sure to find out when the New Year will be. The celebrations include elephant races, coconut games and pillow fights.
Destination: Rain or Shine
Though Sri Lanka does have monsoon seasons, the weather is often unpredictable. You can expect rains during the dry season and days with clear blue skies during the rainy season. The rains in Sri Lanka normally fall sharp and fast, often dropping a number of inches in just a few minutes. Even while traveling during the monsoon season, showers will not last all day. With rainfalls coming down so quickly, it’s important to be aware of localized flooding. Local floods can derail travel plans so try to be flexible if traveling during the monsoon seasons. The benefit of holidays in Sri Lanka during the non-peak season is that you can enjoy the benefit of lower travel costs and cheaper hotel costs.

Home to the Temple of the Tooth, the country’s most important religious shrine, you will also be able to experience and the Esala Perahera during your holiday in Kandy- Sri Lanka’s most exuberant festival. Even after the rest of Sri Lanka had fallen to the Portuguese and Dutch, the Kingdom of Kandy clung onto its freedom. This resulted in the area preserving its unique customs and culture, and these live on today in the city’s unique dance, architecture and music.
Maintaining a somewhat aristocratic air with its graceful old Kandyan and colonial buildings, pleasantly temperate climate and scenic highland setting, modern Kandy has begun to sprawl considerably. The twisted topography of the surrounding hills and the lake at its centre ensure that the city hasn’t yet overwhelmed its scenic setting.

The mountain slopes and valleys are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls. Red or green roofed plantation bungalows, English country style homes and hotels with lovely flower gardens, a fine 18 hole golf course and a racecourse gives Nuwara Eliya a decidedly British character.

Whether exploring ruins, hiking natural wonders, fighting crowds at Colombo’s bazaar district or just lazing on the beach, your Sri Lanka holiday will be picturesque and memorable.
