Walking Shoot & Sunset Photography

Your course starts at 10 am after breakfast with an introduction to camera fundamentals followed by a wander around the beautiful town of Essaouira, the home of your photography tutor and famous the world over with its stunning architecture, fishing port, and labyrinths of souks and bustling markets
On your first day, you’ll have 2 workshops on either side of lunch on camera fundamentals (camera controls, exposure – ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and histograms)
In the late afternoon, you will have the chance to shoot some sunset photography.

Evening meals are not included but your host will recommend a choice of different restaurants where reservations will be made for you on request.

The focus of today’s tuition will be on 2 abstract workshops in the medina and port, where you will concentrate on using depth of field and composition whilst building on the previous day’s learning.

Your portrait photography class starts after breakfast with a mixture of classroom and fieldwork. Your host will take you to see Essaouira‘s traditional workers, friendly faces who Darren (host) knows, and on whom you can practice your portrait photography skills.
In addition to one-on-one time with your tutor, enjoy a free afternoon to practice your newly acquired skills. Alternatively, you can visit the beach, explore the souks for some shopping, or focus on any specific aspects you'd like to refine in the remaining photography session.

Today will be given to exploring and photographing the Berber people at their weekly market and photographing women workers at a countryside Argan co-operative.
After lunch, enjoy a free afternoon to explore, unwind, visit the beach, or practise your photography at your own pace. You can also join optional activities like a cooking class (additional charges may apply). Don't miss the chance to capture stunning shots of camels and horse riders on the beach at sunset.

Essaouira off the beaten track

After breakfast, your photography session at the Riad will begin with a review of the previous day's images, followed by a workshop focused on documentary-style photography, including a guided, tutor-led tour of the port.
After lunch, take a short trip beyond the medina to explore a different side of Essaouira, away from the usual tourist paths. Later, a group image review will provide an opportunity to reflect on your progress throughout the week and showcase your work to the rest of the group.

As with previous evenings, you’ll have free time to dine wherever you choose.

This morning, you'll have free time to practice your photography before lunch (available at an additional cost).

In the afternoon, you can continue capturing images or unwind at your own pace. Your tutor, Darren, has plenty of recommendations for how to make the most of your free time. If you're feeling adventurous, you might try a cooking class, go horse riding, shop for local treasures, visit a hammam, explore the vibrant arts scene in nearby galleries, take a bongo drumming class, or watch artisans craft silver and woodwork. Or, if you prefer, simply relax on the beach and soak in the surroundings.
